CELEBRATIONS
There
are a number of colorful and intriguing festivals which are held each
year by the nomadic people of Niger. The Cure Salée and
the Guerouel festival take place in September, the time for celebrating
the recently-ended rainy season. The Cure Salée is a large gathering
of Tuareg and Fulani herders from the plains of the In Gall region,
lasting several days. The Guerouel brings together
the Wodabe and Fulani cowherds. Made up and decorated in their most
beautiful finery,
they sing and dance to seduce the women who come to choose husbands.
The end of the rainy season is the time of many spontaneous and joyous
celebrations among the Niger nomads, which your guides from Talak Adventure
Travel will know how to find. These smaller celebrations retain an
authenticity and spontaneity which sets them apart from the larger
festivals

On December 27 each year the Tuareg come together in Iferouane for several
memorable days of song, dance, crafts displays and camel races. A beautiful
oasis ringed by mountains, Iferouane is only a day’s drive to the great dunes
