CAMEL TREKKING

Traversing the desert by camel is an experience which should not be missed. Talak Adventure Travel can arrange camel treks of any length of time, as your interest and ability dictates. Typical trips for one or two days would depart from Terzizeit, gateway to the Saharan dunes, to Chiriet, a gorgeous formation of mountains and immense dunes.

For those seeking a more remote adventure, we suggest the Bagzan Plateau. In the heart of the Air Massif, the Bagzan plateau, only accessible by foot, is a dream destination for trekking by camel. This little paradise shelters luxuriant gardens, palm groves and fields of cereal that are irrigated by water drawn from wells to the rhythm of the shrill song of the pulley. A chaotic landscape of black basalt is sprinkled with red acacias animated by mischievous monkeys. In this place, far from the rest of the world, the Tuareg of the plateau prepare the "Azalai," a large caravan of camels that crosses the immense Tenere Desert to get salt from Bilma, 300 miles away.
